Push Hands vs Partner Practice

Partner work, referred to traditionally in Tai Chi as Push Hands, focuses on the principles and techniques applied in a martial context. In the past it was more important to defend oneself physically.

This implies that relationships have an aggressive element with a win / loose outcome and isn't suitable in general to modern day life.

Nowadays the priority has shifted to defending ourselves mentally and emotionally, creating the need for transferring and tweaking the martial exercises to fulfill the modern demand.

Many years of experience and reflection has allowed us to create a partner practice that although acknowledging the martial aspects of Tai Chi, it is more concerned with the development and expression of building more positive exchanges between two or more people, creating a win / win interaction.
